Jesus uses the imagery of a fox and a mother hen when describing his role as our protector in Luke 13. The mother hen has no talons, no teeth, no roar, nor speed. The only thing the mother hen can do is place herself between her chicks and the one who would harm them. Feathers everywhere! Jesus calls us to be the mother hens for others.
